ACP hosted a farewell lunch for Türkiye’s Consul General Cemal Sangu, attended by PPP leader Faryal Talpur as guest of honor.

Karachi, The Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, hosted a farewell lunch in honor of Türkiye’s Consul General, Cemal Sangu. The event was graced by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Women’s Wing Chairperson and Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Faryal Talpur, who attended as the guest of honor. President of the Arts Council, Muhammad Ahmad Shah, along with governing body members, warmly welcomed the distinguished guests.

Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Ahmad Shah highlighted the need to further strengthen Pakistan–Türkiye cultural ties and cooperation, emphasizing the historic bond and shared heritage between the two nations.

PPP leader Faryal Talpur recalled Pakistan’s longstanding relations with Türkiye, noting that her great-grandfather, Hassan Ali Effendi, was the first Consul General of Türkiye in Sindh and founder of Sindh Madressatul Islam in 1885. She expressed her best wishes for Cemal Sangu and later presented him with Mirza Qaleech Baig’s book “Khan Bahadur Hassanally Effendi” along with a bouquet.

Consul General Cemal Sangu praised Hassan Ali Effendi’s role in nurturing Sindh–Türkiye relations and thanked Faryal Talpur and President Asif Ali Zardari for their efforts in preserving this historic friendship. The ceremony was attended by Sindh Minister for Culture Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani, Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar, Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab, senior PPP leaders, intellectuals, artists, diplomats, and other notable personalities.
