Karachi, The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi hosted the launch of senior journalist and researcher Shah Waliullah Junedi’s book “Karachi ke Ghair Muslim Cricketers” at Haseena Moin Hall. The ceremony was presided over by Khawaja Razi Haider, with notable speakers including cricket commentator Qamar Ahmed, former Pakistan captain Moin Khan, Mazhar Abbas, Abdul Rasheed, and others.
Speakers praised the book as a milestone in documenting the contributions of non-Muslim cricketers from Karachi. Qamar Ahmed highlighted cricket’s independence from religion, while Moin Khan suggested translating the book into English. Mazhar Abbas emphasized the need to preserve cricket grounds, recalling Karachi’s historic venues.
Author Shah Waliullah Junedi thanked the Arts Council and shared insights on the role of Karachi’s diverse communities in developing cricket during the colonial era.
