Karachi, (Sports Reporter) Five Star School, Tariq Road, booked their place in the final of the PCB Naya Nazimabad Inter-School Cricket Tournament after defeating Standard School, Buffer Zone, by nine runs in an exciting first semi final the tournament is being organized by the Pakistan Cricket Board in collaboration with Naya Nazimabad.
The match was played at the KCCA Stadium, North Nazimabad, where Five Star School, batting first, were bowled out for 128 runs. Haider Ali top-scored with 35 runs, while Muhammad Zaid Ahmed contributed 25. For Standard School, Faisal Qurban was the standout bowler with four wickets, while Ash Malik and Shah Mir Khan picked up two wickets each.
In reply, Standard School were restricted to 120 runs as Five Star School’s bowlers produced a disciplined and spirited performance to bowl out the opposition. Captain Soman Kabir fought hard with a valiant 40-run knock but could not take his team over the line. Mohammad Murtaza Taqi starred with the ball, claiming four wickets, while Ahmed Abdullah Butt supported him well with three wickets.
Mohammad Murtaza Taqi was adjudged Man of the Match for his match-winning bowling performance. The chief guest, President New Nazimabad Gymkhana Syed Muhammad Talha, distributed prizes among the players at the conclusion of the match.
According to PCB Coordinator Sindh, Rahat Ali Shah, the second semi-final will be played on Monday, December 29, between Beaconhouse School and Oasis School. The grand day-and-night final of the tournament is scheduled to be held on January 1 at the Naya Nazimabad Cricket Stadium.
