Karachi, The three-day internationa
conference brought toginternationalhers, academicians, and industry professionals from Pakistan and abroad to discuss emerging trends and innovations in biological and applied sciences. The conference was organized under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Narmeen Zakaria Bawany, Dean, Faculty of Science, JUW.
The conference featured nine technical sessions, including Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence in Biological and Chemical Sciences, Food Science, Microbiology, Mathematics, and Zoology. The scientific program comprised over 90 oral presentations and more than 100 poster presentations, with participation from scholars representing Sweden, Turkey, the United States, Azerbaijan, China, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Italy, and Pakistan. Pre-conference workshops and tutorials were also conducted to enhance practical skills and professional development.
The inaugural session was graced by Dr. Tariq Rafi, Chairman, Sindh Higher Education Commission, who emphasized the importance of women’s education for national and socio-economic development. A plenary lecture titled “Smog Pollution: Causes, Consequences, and Control” was delivered by Dr. Haider A. Khwaja, Senior Research Scientist at the Wadsworth Center, New York, highlighting key environmental and public health challenges.
The conference concluded with a Closing Ceremony attended by Prof. Dr. Abdul Basit, Director, Indus Diabetes and Endocrinology Center, who stressed the need to move beyond publications toward patenting and commercialization of research for national progress. He appreciated the leadership of Chancellor Mr. Wajeehuddin Ahmed and Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Naeem Farooqui and welcomed future research collaboration with JUW. The event was supported by leading organizations including SciLife Pharma Pvt. Ltd., Topline International, Chughtai Lab, Habib Metropolitan Bank, Faysal Funds, SciTech, and Hitech Biotech Pvt. Ltd.
