MIES, (Switzerland) The United States retained the top spot in the latest FIBA Men’s World Rankings, presented by Nike, after maintaining a perfect record in Window 3 of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Qualifiers. Germany remained second, while Serbia held on to third, with France and Canada close behind as less than 1.5 ranking points separate the three teams. Spain climbed to sixth place ahead of Australia, benefiting from strong performances in the European Qualifiers.
Brazil emerged as the biggest mover in the top 10, climbing to ninth after improving to 6-0 in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Americas Qualifiers, marking their first return to the top 10 since 2016. Latvia moved up to 12th, South Sudan advanced to 24th after sealing a place in the second round of the African Qualifiers, while Iran and Venezuela each gained two places following additional qualifying fixtures. FIBA also announced that, beginning with the next rankings update after Window 4, teams winning by 30 points or more will receive an enhanced Margin of Victory bonus, further rewarding dominant performances.
