Sindh games 2024 will be kick off from 23 February at National coaching center Karachi

Karachi, by (Zeeshan Hussain) The 8th edition of the Sindh Games will kick off on February 23, 2024, 3 p.m. at National Coaching Center Karachi, with the participation of around four thousand athletes. Winners of the Sindh Games will be awarded by medals and Sindh Achievement Awards. Provincial-level successful athletes will be part of the National Games. These statements were made during a joint press conference held in the Sindh Assembly regarding the Sindh Games, where Provincial Minister for Information, Minority Affairs, Social Protection, and President of Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi Muhammad Ahmed Shah, and Provincial Minister for Culture, Youth Affairs, Sports, and Human Resources Development Junaid Shah briefed the Media. Provincial Minister of Information, Minority Affairs and Social Protection Muhammad Ahmed Shah,, remarked, "Today, we are here to mark yet another historic occasion. The inauguration of the Sindh Games is a promising development. We aim to play a supportive role in propelling Sindh’s talent to international prominence. A grand sports festival is underway in Sindh. It is our final press conference in this as a caretaker ministers. In the upcoming days, provincial and federal ministers will take their oaths. Throughout the tenure of the caretaker government, the media has been immensely cooperative. They have played a positive role in maintaining a balanced approach between institutions. Furthermore, while briefing, Provincial Minister for Culture, Youth Affairs, Sports, and Human Resources Development of Sindh, Junaid Shah mentioned that "The opening of the 4-day Sindh Games will take place on February 23, 2024, at the National Coaching Center in Karachi, with the participation of around 3700 athletes across 69 disciplines, comprising 42 men’s and 27 women’s disciplines. Sindh Games are taking place after 8 years, and it’s essential that provincial-level games of this magnitude occur annually. He highlighted that the Sindh Games holds a pivotal status, with Dr. Muhammad Ali Shah reminiscing, "My father holds the record for organizing the Sindh Games five times. He underscored the imperative need to promote sporting activities in Sindh, expressing a fervent desire for the youth of Sindh to carve their identity on the global stage. Dr. Syed Junaid Ali Shah remarked that raising voice on sports-related issues is a positive step, indicating the seriousness towards sports activities. He stated that it reflects how deeply people are concerned about the promotion of sports and athletic endeavors. He mentioned that there was a desire to hold the Sindh Games in Hyderabad, but due to the current political situation, the decision was made to organize them in Karachi. He added that they intend to expand the scope of the games to other cities as well. The Provincial Minister for Culture emphasized that cultural sports have also been prioritized in the Sindh Games, including Malakhro, Wanjh Wati, and Kaudi Kaudi (Kabaddi). In response to a question, the Provincial Minister for Sports highlighted the need to strengthen the Sindh Olympic Association and ensure its effective functioning. He stressed the importance of support from organizations such as the Pakistan Olympic Association, Sindh Olympic Association, Sindh Sports Department, and Sindh Sports Board for any sports association. To address association matters, a committee has been formed by the Sports Department. It is hoped that the series of Sindh Games will continue in the coming years. It is to be noted that the Sindh Games will continue until February 26, 2024, and the press conference held at the old Sindh Assembly building was attended by Secretary Sports Sindh, Hafiz Abdul Hadi Baloch, Director General Public Relations Sindh, Muhammad Salim Khan, Special Secretary Qamar Raza Baloch, Director Press Information Sindh, Akhtar Ali Sarhio, and others.
