Karachi, by (Zeeshan Hussain) The 21st Convocation Ceremony of Jinnah University for Women was held with great pomp and circumstance on the lush lawns of the university campus. The esteemed Chief Guest, Governor of Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori, awarded degrees to 1,233 successful graduates, including BS, MS/MPhil, and PhD recipients.
In his keynote address, Governor Tessori emphasized the importance of education and urged the graduates to actively contribute to the development of Pakistan through their academic achievements. He praised the exemplary performance of Jinnah University and commended the university administration, particularly Chancellor Wajihuddin Ahmed, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Naeem Farooqui, and the faculty for their dedication and hard work.
"The role of parents in the success of students is crucial,” the Governor noted, acknowledging the silent support parents provide, often from behind the scenes, celebrating their children’s achievements. He also honored the efforts of the late Alhaj Riazuddin Ahmed, the founder of the university, and highlighted how Chancellor Wajihuddin and Razuddin have continued to uphold their father’s vision, strengthening the institution.
Governor Tessori extended an invitation to the graduates and faculty to visit the Governor House, announcing that it is now more accessible to the public for addressing their issues. He highlighted that thousands of students are receiving IT training at the Governor House.
The convocation was also attended by members of the university’s governing body, including Ms. Akram Khatoon, Seema Chughtai, Mr. Raziuddin Ahmed, and Mr. Sunny Ahmed.
Chancellor Wajihuddin Ahmed inaugurated the convocation with an overview of the university’s annual performance, praising the hard work of the faculty and congratulating the successful graduates. The convocation was hosted by the university’s registrar, Wania Wajih.
