KARACHI, (Staff Reporter) A special Independence Day ceremony was organized by the Pakistan American Cultural Center (PACC) in collaboration with Lions International, District 305-S, at the PACC premises. Lions District Governor 305-S Shakeel Ahmed Khan was the chief guest, while Senior Vice Chairperson District Governor Lion Safia Hassan, PACC President Syed Makhdoom Ali Riaz, Governing Board members, senior journalist Muhammad Afsar Imran, Nusrat Ali, Zafar Iqbal and other prominent personalities attended. A flag-hoisting ceremony was held, followed by an impressive performance by a musical band.
Speaking on the occasion, PACC President Syed Makhdoom Ali Riaz said the presence of District Governor Shakeel Ahmed Khan was a source of encouragement for newly inducted Lions Club members. He said Lions Club had rendered valuable services through various welfare activities, while PACC had been serving the fields of culture and education since 1959 through language courses, computer education and cultural programmes. Lions District Governor Shakeel Ahmed Khan said Independence Day symbolized national identity, self-respect and freedom, paying tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, martyrs and ancestors whose sacrifices made Pakistan possible. He urged the youth to acquire quality education, work with honesty and dedication, and contribute to building Pakistan according to the vision of its founders.
Senior Vice Chairperson District Governor Lion Safia Hassan thanked all distinguished guests, PACC President Syed Makhdoom Ali Riaz, Lions Club members, participants from South Zone and Hyderabad and all those who contributed to the success of the event. She said the collective participation and cooperation of the attendees made the ceremony memorable. The event concluded with enthusiastic slogans of “Pakistan Zindabad” and “Lions Club Paindabad.”
