Karachi, In a landmark step for public health, 13-year-old student Ayesha Khalid, daughter of Dr Khalid Shafi, became the first child to receive the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine during Sindh’s official launch event today.
The vaccine was administered in the presence of Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho and Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah, along with representatives from Gavi, WHO, UNICEF and other partner organizations.
Officials hailed the initiative as a major milestone in protecting young girls against cervical cancer and strengthening preventive healthcare across the province.
