Shanto & his men shine bright in Pakistan

Karachi, by Saif R Siddiqui

Incredible, simply incredible. Exhilarating day of Test cricket. As the scoreline reads, it’s nothing being short of sensation. Bangladesh not only dominated this Test match but humbled Pakistan by a ten wickets win. The winning runs coming from the bat of
Zakir Hasan, the left-hander who came to the Test scene with a bang, picking up a hundred on debut against India. But this victory will remain in his memories for a long time to come. What a role model Mushfiqur Rahim has been, he’s a classic player and a great ambassador for Bangladesh as he has the longest career among active cricketers. He struck polished 191.
Congratulations to Bangladesh, congratulations to skipper & birthday boy Najam ul Hasan Shanto and obviously their senior campaigners, Mushfiq ur Rahim, Shakib ul Hasan and company shall certainly enjoy this for a very very long time to come. They wrote a new chapter in the history of Test cricket & they write it permanently. They become the first side to beat Pakistan by 10 wickets at home. This is their first ever win in Test cricket against Pakistan as well. This is something they can be very very proud of. It has been an outstanding effort, as Bangladesh skipper Shanto said at the start of the series, "We’re determined to do something special”.
But it’s all about the players, about the XI. Their preparations, their execution, role of support staff.
Bangladesh won the toss and decided to put Pakistan into bat, the home side put 448 and declared thinking that they will rush through the visitors batting line-up. But Bangladesh had other things in mind, they posted 565 getting a lead of 117. Pakistan then collapsed and were bundled out for 146, setting a meager target of 30 to win for Bangladesh. Their spinners grabbed 7 wickets. Second Test to be played at the same venue (Rawalpindi) from Friday.
